Sean Mahon – Testimonial
After several months of suffering unbearable back pain due to a fractured spinal vertebrae, which prevented me sleeping and walking for more than a few steps, I was referred to a Sheffield surgeon who declined to operate on my spine but said I should see Mr Deb Pal, a Neurosurgeon in Leeds.
Following my consultation with Mr Deb Pal he advised that a Vertebroplasty operation was the best option to cement the vertebrae and alleviate the acute pain I was suffering.
However, my last blood test disclosed some anomalies which increased the risks of me having a general anaesthetic.
Mr Deb Pal and his anaesthetist, Dr Krishna Rao, spent along time discussing these risks with me and my family and the relative risks of the procedure being carried out under sedation, which was an alternative option.
It was clear that my personal safety was a priority for Mr Deb Pal and Dr Krishna Rao throughout our discussions and my wife and I appreciated this sense of concern and safety which enabled us to confidently decide to go for the sedation option.
I felt no pain or discomfort during the sedated operation which was totally successful as I have experienced no pain since the operation. I am now able to walk without a walking stick and, more importantly to me without any pain or discomfort.
I am so grateful to Mr Deb Pal for giving me my normal life back.
