I have suffered from back pain since I was around 17 or 18 years old due to a slipped disk in my spine (L4 / L5 region). Although it was not unbearable throughout my 20's and early 30's, it was uncomfortable, especially after playing sport. I played a variety of sports including golf, tennis and football to semi pro level. However, a few years ago things took a turn and my slipped disk began compressing against a nerve, leaving me with a feeling of numbness at all times down the left side of my body. This hindered me playing sport competitively and ultimately resulted in me having to give up football. Not only this, it also began having a huge effect on my work. I do a very physical job so this again proved to be a real hurdle. Even walking was becoming an challenge.

I was recommended to go see Mr Pal at the Spire Roundhay and I booked to go for an MRI scan to dissect exactly what the issue was. Due to the extent of the issue, the only option to potentially resolve the problem was a Spinal Fusion. Obviously due to the risks involved in this surgery I was extremely cautious and anxious, however, due to the huge decrease in quality of life as a result to this issue, I felt it was the best option. After speaking with Mr Pal in length about the procedure, I instantly felt at ease.

I had my surgery 20th May 2024 and it was a huge success. Having just passed the year mark I can honestly say it was the best decisions of my life to get this done. I am experiencing zero nerve pain anymore and I am now back to playing all sports including football which I am delighted with. Although the road to recovery is quite a long one, it is worth it, and I would do the same again in a heartbeat.

I could not recommend Mr Pal any higher, he has been superb throughout the whole process. His extensive knowledge and expertise instantly makes you feel in safe hands. On top of this, he is a genuinely lovely man and we always had a great chat and catch up in the checkups post operation.

I would also like to give a quick commendation to Mr Pal's secretary Bianca Scollen. Bianca was also brilliant throughout the whole process and was extremely accommodating.
