Dorothy Bassiri – Testimonial

I’ve suffered with sciatica since my thirties but always been able to manage it with exercise and physio from time to time. But in feb of 2018 I woke up with excruciating pain in my back and leg. I’m a hairdresser so this definitely was not great. I managed after a while to ease it with help from my chiropractor. We got to a point though where it just wasn’t going but I managed to still work. In August I decided to go to see Mr Pal at spire after having a scan which showed small bulging disc. He suggested I have a diagnostic nerve block injection.

At the end of September I suddenly got much worse, to the point where I could not even get into my car to drive, never mind stand and cut hair. We also had to cancel a holiday in Oct. I ended in BRI for three days where there was basically nothing they would or could do for me as my scan didn’t show anything of emergency. I was housebound and on crutches unable to look after myself. I had further nerve block injection which gave me a little relief for a few days but then decided to go back to see Mr Pal at spire as the pain was driving me crazy. No medication or physio would give me any relief at all. My life had stopped. I was off work at my busiest time of the year. I’m happy to say Mr Pal could see the pain I was in although the scan did not portray the true agony I was experiencing.

I had a microdiscectomy and mediul facetectomy on 3/12/2018. I woke up with no pain which was amazing. I am now working on my recovery and 17 days post op. I’ve had some discomfort over the past week but nothing compared to what I had before. Mr Pal said the nerve was trapped much more than the scan showed. I thanked him for believing me. I had no choice other than a operation as I tried all conservative ways. I can’t thank Mr Pal and his team enough especially Bianca who helped so much when I needed some advice. I’ve had the best Xmas present. I’m hoping to get back to work in a couple of months and do Pilates again.
